Laura Ferretti: “Happy and honored to be Latina”

Laura Ferretti, an Argentine actress and presenter, began her career at 16 after winning a beauty contest. She gained recognition as a co- host on Univision's "Sábado Gigante" and participated in various telenovelas and series such as "Las Dos Caras de Ana," "Mi Corazón Insiste," and "Corazón Valiente." Ferretti also worked on programs in Peru and Mexico, standing out in productions like "Luis Miguel" (Netflix) and "Rosario Tijeras."

She currently plays "Maria" in the series “Y Llegaron de Noche”, based on the true story of the Hispanic version of the film "Dracula" (1931). Her journey reflects determination and talent, solidifying her success on the international stage.

How was it working alongside Eugenio Derbez in "Y Llegaron de Noche" and seeing the project reach an international level?

Laura Ferretti: It has been a dream come true, working with a GREAT like EUGENIO DERBEZ. I am blessed. This is a project that will reach an international level because Eugenio always takes great care of his projects. There is no better representative for us Latinos in this entertainment industry than him. Even more so in this project, where he is the director, producer, and main actor. Everyone on set was amazed by his talent, his good humor, even though we spent hours and hours on set. He was always kind, talented, and very affectionate with the whole crew and us actors. Eugenio is a subject for study: UNIQUE AND TIRELESS!

You started your career at a very young age. How was the experience of growing up in acting?

LF: I started at 14, winning a beauty contest in my hometown of Córdoba, Argentina, then moved on to runway and modeling, then hosting, and finally earned a degree in theater. I’m always studying. My experience has been wonderful, full of ups and downs, but I’ve never lost my passion because acting is what I love the most.

How did you prepare for your role in "Y Llegaron de Noche"?

LF: By reading the biography of Lupita Tovar, a book written by her son Pancho Kohner, where he talks about Maria, her grandmother. I needed to understand the strong and loving bond between the grandmother and her granddaughter. I worked extensively on the dialogues, her gestures, her way of moving, of looking. There were rehearsals, script readings, and conversations with Eugenio, who dedicated a lot of time to refining all the details of the grandmother and the main characters. It was a beautiful process to create MARIA.

What can you tell us about the character "María" that you play in the series?

LF: It was a very challenging character for me, a great responsibility to portray someone who lived and was so important to Lupita Tovar and many generations after her. After this series, everyone will want a grandmother like her in their homes! MARIA is LOVE.
